Ignore Your Mobile Phone
Technology is great! I’m one who loves to be on top of the latest tech that the world has to offer and used to be first in line when adopting tech. As priorities change, i have come to realise that i didn’t have enough time to actually carry out the task that i set my self out to do on a given day. So i did a simple audit on stuff that i spend my time on and it hit me like a train. My phone was taking up so much of my time. It was almost like a speed bump to almost everything that i do.
Think about it.
How many times have you found your self doing something important and your phone rang? You end up dropping everything and you attend to the call. 7 out of 10 its some dude on the other line trying to sell you a credit card or a insurance policy. Was it worth breaking your concentration or thought process for?
Even if it was a genuine call from a friend or family, it would be something random and very often not worth dropping what ever you were doing in the first place, don’t you think?
Here’s another one, when your driving and your phone rang. Have you found yourself scrambling for your phone and picking it up like your life depended on it? Well the irony is, you could have cost you your life.
Try this for starters –
- Put your phone on silent.
- Leave your phone out of sight when you are doing something else.
- You can always call back or reply to that message when you want too. Whatsapp didnt come with a 2 min must reply KPI anyway 😉
I’m attempting to pay less attention to my phone these days and focusing on task at hand and im find it rather refreshing. Liberating to be honest 🙂
