Why i want a Android device

android

So i have been keeping my eyes closely on the android devices that are in the market. Only 10 months ago my loyal Samsung phone of 4 years decided to suddenly die on me taking together all the contacts and data with it. I needed to get it replaced badly and my then favorite the Nokia E71.

It was my first “smart phone” and discovered very fast the limitations of the Symbian OS which  to be honest, absolutely rubbish! With the limitations that it gives, i feel that there is so much that you can do with a symbian device unless there is a massive overhaul to keep up with the leading packs.

iPhone the leader of the pack has been the crowd favorite. Everyone seems to be carrying around a device and you see flying fingers every time the iphone makes a appearance. I got no doubts that its a good device and a breath of fresh air but since android made its debut back on the 21st of October 2008.

Android has shaken the market , actually more like shocked the ,market with the capability, given developers a opportunity to develop and come up with applications that can be used. Its true open source for me and that alone makes it a very juicy prospect.

The best part, Android is a platform so since the popularity of the platform has increased tremendously, more and more mobile manufacturers are using this operating system on their devices.

Still not convinced? Here’s something that should give you a indication of why you should jump on the bandwagon :

Sales of Google Android phones in the U.S. are rising so quickly, the devices have outsold Apple handsets for the first time on record. New smartphone subscribers choosing Google phones accounted for 27 percent of U.S. smartphone sales, the Nielsen Company will announce this morning, nudging past the 23 percent share held by Apple.

Its the real deal i tell you! My next device is defiantely going to be a android but ill hold on to my horses for a while before getting it and settling on brand of the phone that i will be going with (even though the HTC desire is killing me!!)
